Museum Field Tour Series
Multiple Dates
In celebration of AAPI Heritage Month, the Heritage Museum of Asian Art was proud and excited to offer two Free Museum Field Tours—one for all ages and one for children—in addition to our Free Museum Tours offered every 3rd Friday.
On two Sundays (May 5th and May 12th), visitors to the Heritage Museum of Asian Art were led through an educational, participatory, and engaging tour through our galleries. The later date was our Children’s Tour, aimed specifically at connecting our youngest community members and their families with the rich cultural history and heritage of Asia from vibrantly glazed pottery to intricate sculptures. Guided by a well-informed museum docent, the tour highlighted the museum’s special exhibition, “YEAR OF THE DRAGON: Early China to LEGO” and the distinct character and meanings of the dragon between Asia and the world.
Through interactive stories, treasure hunts, and activities, children, their families, and other tour attendees went on an educational adventure that inspired curiosity and inquiry. Ask the children who went on this tour about the stirrup, for example. You may be surprised by their historically-informed answers that fold in the arts and Asia!
