About the event

Each day we begin anew, a cycle that persists since the dawn time. Each moment we encounter is its own universe. Tea is fabled to have existed in human culture for more than 4,500 years, but only as a daily beverage since the third century. Through tea we encounter the new and the old, the pure and the everyday.

The second installment of our workshop series will feature a presentation of Chado. Along with this, we'll discuss aesthetics in practice to bring harmony for ourselves and share moments of subtle joy in our gathering!! Limited to only 20 spots!

Workshop Highlights:

Matcha: An introduction to this iconic form of tea, preparation methods, and how in this style act of preparation is just as much a part of the appreciation!

Philosophy: Above all else this form derives from Sen no Rikyū and is meant to embody Zen Buddhism in its practice, centering around 4 core principles.

Fundamental Techniques: We will touch upon the fundamentals of how to bow while sitting, properly drink from a tea bowl, guest etiquette, and how to make a bowl of Usucha.

Please note tours may be canceled or postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.
