Museum General Operation Intern:

The museum seeks interns to contribute to our visitor services, public programs, marketing, and development departments, as well as community outreach. As an intern, you will be able to familiarize yourself with our collections and exhibitions and conduct guided tours as docents. While we do not expect docents to be experts in Asian art, we do encourage developing solid general knowledge and gaining insights into specific artworks to enhance the visitor experience beyond what exhibit labels provide.

Given our small organization, interns, like our employees, may be requested to assist in various aspects of the museum's daily operations, including membership services, exhibition set-up, cataloging, and research. We value strong communication skills and appreciate any prior knowledge of Asian art. As a small team, we value the enthusiasm and creativity that interns bring to our organization.

Key Requirements:

  1. Enthusiasm and Energy: We seek interns who are passionate about the arts, particularly Asian art, and who can bring a high level of energy and excitement to their work. Your enthusiasm will be contagious and contribute to a positive and vibrant atmosphere at the museum.

  2. Innovative Thinking: We encourage interns to think outside the box and bring new ideas to the table. Whether it's brainstorming innovative marketing strategies, creating engaging public programs, or assisting with development initiatives, your fresh perspective will be highly valued.

  3. Multidisciplinary Collaboration: As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work across various departments, including marketing, public programs, and development. We value individuals who can adapt to different tasks and contribute effectively to a multidisciplinary team environment.

  4. Strong Communication Skills: Effective communication is crucial in our museum's operations. Interns should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, allowing them to interact professionally with colleagues, visitors, and stakeholders.

  5. Proactive and Self-Motivated: We are seeking interns who take the initiative and can work independently when needed. Having a proactive attitude and a strong sense of self-motivation will ensure your success in this internship.

  6. Flexibility and Adaptability: Our museum hosts various events, programs, and exhibitions, which may require flexibility in your schedule. We appreciate interns who can adapt to changing circumstances and are open to new challenges.

While prior experience in marketing, public programs, or development is not mandatory, it is certainly a plus. We value diversity and welcome candidates from various educational backgrounds. Interns will be required to dedicate Two Days a week and may need to attend some evening training sessions and events. Please note that this unpaid internship can be used for credit hours, and interns can expect to commit approximately 10 hours per week.

If you meet these requirements and are ready to make a valuable contribution to our museum, we invite you to apply for our internship program. Please show us your energy, innovative thinking, and passion for Asian art!

To apply, please send your resume, cover letter, and any relevant portfolios or samples of your work to info@heritageasianart.org. We look forward to hearing from you and exploring the possibility of having you join our dynamic team.
